Sit back at prepare yourself for a very touching story of how God works in our lives and even uses our little furry friends to bless others.
Meet Robin and Tut.
Robin is the breeder we purchased Quincy from. She has an amazing heart for Yorkies as you will see...
On 3/16/08 Robin went to Karthaus, PA to look at a small male Yorkie. She was told that he weighed 3 lbs. which was the right size for her female for breeding purposes. While Robin was at this home, she witnessed the little guy (who she later named Tut) being tossed about and even being carried by the neck by the lady's grandson who was around three years of age. Robin knew that this was not the right home for this little dog. She also knew that something was wrong with this male Yorkie. He didn't feel like he weighed 3 lbs. but the woman didn't have a scale to weigh him. The place was horribly dirty with an electrified fence around the dog pen. When she asked why there was an electric fence, the woman said the last Yorkie jumped over the fence and was killed in the road and that the fence was installed to prevent the dogs from jumping over it! Robin knew immediately that the fence would kill the dog before he even got to the road. It was at that moment that Robin decided she would purchase the frail, sickly Yorkie. Robin knew there was a reason that she was there and that she couldn't leave without rescuing that poor little pup.
When she arrived home, she weighed him and he weighed only 1.5 lbs. at 8 months of age! After reviewing his medical records Robin noticed that he weighed 1lb. 9 oz at 9 weeks of age. It was then that she contacted her vet and he asked for a stool sample which showed 5 types of worms! Poor little Tut was being eaten alive from the inside out. Robin then contacted the breeder to give her the heads up. When you have those types of worms in your soil, you have to treat your dogs and the soil. They can live in the soil for up to 3 years...... The breeder tried to tell Robin that a friend stopped by and must have infected the soil, because that friends' dog had the same worms! REALLY?! Needless to say, Tut has remained with Robin in her Yorkie Nest for the past 5 years! She always felt if the right home came along, then so be it.
Fast forward to last week...Robin rescued a 19 lb. Yorkie named Lexy and immediately listed her on Craigslist. Much to her amazement, the first couple (from Mansfield) who contacted Robin actually came that day to take the big one home with them. Robin received a second phone call inquiring about Lexy from a nurse named Christine. She told Robin that she was looking for a little dog for a patient of hers. A disabled 12 year old little girl named Lexi who is in a wheelchair and has a trach tube (she actually had the same name as the 19 lb Yorkie that had just been placed!). The nurse shared with Robin that it was the little girl's dream to own a small dog. Immediately, Robin knew that the 19 lb. Yorkie would've been too much for Lexi even though they shared the same name but she felt that one of her own Yorkies named Tut would be the perfect match, so loveable and small yet with a personality bigger then he is. That same day, Christine came to meet Tut in person. The wheels were in motion. They both decided that he was perfect dog for little Lexi. Robin knew the hard part was just around the corner...convincing herself that she could actually go through with this. Robin knew in her heart of hearts that this was the perfect home for her Tut. She offered Tut several years of temporary placement while preparing him for his permanent home, with Lexi.
This past Saturday, Robin fighting back tears, delivered Tut to his new home with Miss Lexi. And what an impression Lexi made on Robin - Lexi is 12 going on 24 and wise beyond her years! Lexi wanted to rename Tut to Cashew. Lexi explained that when she said his name, Cashew, people would think that she sneezed and they would say "God Bless You" and Tut would be the worlds most blessed dog! But knowing how hard it was for Robin to give him up, Lexi decided to keep the name Tut in honor of Robin.
Robin had intended to take photos of Tut and Lexi but it was just too difficult. After they all went outside, Robin quietly walked in the other direction, made her way to her car and drove home in tears. She didn't want Lexi to see how upset she was.
Robin says that she's had a rough few days since placing Tut with Lexi because she misses him so much. Just knowing that he is making this young lady's dream come true gives her the strength to lessen the ache in her heart.
Robin says Lexi has blessed her life and now Tut's too....
She left Tut with a new bed and crate pad that she made out of material with frogs on it, as well as a harness and leash. Much too her surprise, when she delivered Tut to Lexi, she found frog figurines throughout Lexi's house. Turns out when Lexi was born, they knew there was a problem and Lexi's mother decided to get a tattoo of a frog in honor of her little girl. Lexi's mother wanted Lexi to overcome her disability and to be able to play leap-frog so the tattoo served as a reminder of that goal.
We never know who God's going to put in our path or what he's going to use to get our attention. Funny thing is it always seems to work out according to His plan...which isn't always in line with our own plan!
Wow - what a moving story! How awesome of Robin to do this for Lexi! God is so good, isn't He? And Robin is going to be SO blessed for being such a blessing to Tut AND to Lexi. :) She may have given Lexi a piece of her heart, but God is going to pour back into her pressed down, shaken together, and running over (Luke 6:38). All I can say is Wow - what an amazing story! :)
